Luxury Automotive Repair- Green. Electric. Motor. New. Car. These are a few words that describe the 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid Quick Spin.
What’s the rage about the Chevy Malibu Hybrid? The fact that you don’t have to plug it in can have a couple favors in its book. It runs on gas-electric in order to run and get up to the fast, quick speeds. The similarities it shares with the Volt is good news for the larger family sedan because it’s simply larger in size.
Some of the shared parts from the Volt to the Malibu are:
- Blended breaking system
- A/C compressor
- Auxiliary power module
- Hybrid transaxle (electro-transmission)
As the Malibu uses the neodymium magnets for its power and efficiency, the Volt incorporates a weaker ferrite magnet that tends to reduce drag. The Volt also features an extra clutch to lock out the engine itself. (pretty neat!)
Some of the differences between these two Chevys are:
- Different sized batteries
- Power capabilities
- Chemistry suited to the task for each vehicle
Unlike most sedans, the Chevy Malibu is the first to be fully hybrid. Within the past, Chevy Malibu had an ECO option that was a small generated motor in place of the alternator hook up that was tied to the bigger battery to save energy for longer. The ECO also brought engine stop-start functionality in order to save more fuel, we like that!
The Chevy Malibu Hybrid is for people who are driving shorter distances from around town and to work every day. Most people who drive long distance or for work purposes, this probably isn’t the car choice for you because of the speed and eco-friendly features.
